The SIXCOMMS Podcast
Episode 57: Boundaries and Our Inner Critic with Caryn White
Welcome to a special series ‘Conversations That Count’ featuring Singapore-based
professionals. This sunny island has been my home since 2009, so I’m excited to
shine a spotlight on the inspiring residents I share this sunny island with!
About our guest:
Caryn White is a Strategic Mentor, Professional Member of CPA (Australia) & Certified Coach. Her successful career spans finance, operations, and senior leadership roles in both local and international contexts. Specialising in equipping individuals with the tools to conquer such areas as self-doubt, quieten the inner critic, and effectively manage stress, her intuitive approach is not just about short-term fixes it is about providing a supportive and safe environment where the client learns to trust and know their inner self, serving as a solid foundation for long-term growth and transformation.
Here are just a couple of tips Caryn shared:
Distract Yourself: When faced with moments of negative self-talk, it's important to distract yourself. Whether it's doodling, writing a mantra, or simply taking a deep breath, finding a way to shift your focus can help you stay present and focused in challenging situations.
Choose Again: The Choose Again Method, as shared by Gabby Bernstein, is a powerful tool to redirect your thoughts. Acknowledge the negative self-talk, forgive yourself for having those thoughts, and then choose a more positive thought to replace it. This practice can help you cultivate a more compassionate inner dialogue.
We both share personal stories from our past and how these shaped our inner critic as adults working in professional environments. If you are interested in learning more about how to empower yourself through boundaries and better manage your inner critic, this episode is definitely for you!
